Wow, what a stressfully, hectic, awesome week. I love the Christmas season but boy howdy it takes it all out of me. My daughters sang in the church choir for the Christmas Eve service, and that was great….what wasn’t great was finding out a week before the performance that we had to make costumes for them.
Yup, they gave all us parents a week!
Never having sewed a thing in my life I panicked. Luckily, my grandmother had left me her amazingly awesome sewing machine when she passed away. The only problem was I had no idea how to use it. I mean seriously, what is the gas pedal for? Where is the steering wheel?
Thankfully my “lil sister” has come back into my life and she is a goddess of all things sewing and sewing machines and she showed me how to thread the machine, clean it, and a crash course in how to use it.

She’s a beauty, ain’t she?! She is a Singer 7110, and from what I researched was made in 1980. She is older than I am! She works great, and I found a link to download the user manual for FREE {score} and a bunch of Youtube videos on how to use her, for future reference when my lil sis isn’t around.
We {my sis and I} got the costumes done just in time, but alas, for some reason I neglected to get a picture of them in the finished product. I don’t know what I was thinking and I already donated the costumes to our Church for future use. You can kinda see the costumes in the videos I shot. Yes, they are really lousy videos. I forgot my video camera at home {bad mommy moment} and was stuck with my cruddy cell phone. Enjoy the cuteness that is children singing Christmas songs:
Once the video uploads, I will post it here. For some reason Youtube is being a PITA.
As for Christmas itself, it was a fabulous day. My children were happy and I couldn’t have been more proud of them. They insisted on singing “Happy Birthday” to Jesus. The kids took in the mother load of gifts, and I was spoiled with a few things that made this mommy very merry.
- Tabletop Wine Opener with Suction Grip Stand
- Chantal Loop Tea Kettle
- StudioPress Themes for WordPress {I got Genesis baby!}

Oh, how I love all things wine and tea. Anywho, the end of the year is upon us and now and with it comes resolutions and goals. Do you make {and keep} New Year’s resolutions? I usually don’t, but I have this nagging urge to make a list this year. We shall see what the future brings.
Stay tuned for that.
I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas, and have a Happy New Year!

That tea kettle is too stinking cute!
